Logistical masterstroke for Changbaishan

Changbaishan Ski Resort is located in the north of China in Jilin Province. From this winter onwards TechnoAlpin will also be guaranteeing snow coverage on the Changbaishan slopes. In order to make this possible, the Logistics team masterminded a truly amazing operation in the past few weeks.
Every project is a new challenge for the Logistics department at TechnoAlpin. Indeed, it is no mean feat to transport a snow-making system from A to B. All TechnoAlpin snow guns are made at the company's main base in Bolzano (South Tyrol/ITA) and are delivered from there all over the world. They often have to cross several borders with different customs regulations. Impassable terrain and poor road conditions compound the situation. The project in Changbaishan was really unique, however, even for the Logistics department. It was the first time that a turnkey system of this size was sent in one single delivery.
The following components were delivered:
• Supply point equipment for 340 pits (each with ladder, pit lid, electrants and valves)
• 12 kilometers of data cable
• Hydraulic equipment for the line with 11 valve boxes in total and all the necessary discharge and vent valves
• 2 compressors
• 2 turnkey pumping plants with 5 x 38 kW submersible pumps for the feeder and 5 x 355 kW high-pressure pumps for the main system
• 5 electric cabinets
• 16 x T40 mobile
A total of eight containers (six HC and two OT) left the factory and were sent on their way. All eight containers had to be loaded at the same time. From Bolzano the components were taken to the port of La Spezia (ITA). The consignment went on from there by ship to the port of Xingang in the city of Tianjin in north-east China. There would normally be a stopover on such a long journey and the goods would be loaded onto a connecting ship. Not in this case. The cargo was at sea for 38 days. From Tianjin the consignment finally made its way to Changbaishan Resort. Thanks to the experience of the Logistics department and good liaison with the local import company there were no problems or hitches in connection with the arrival of the shipment. Work has since begun on installing the system there.
