Michael Walchhofer glides to victory on TechnoAlpin snow

On Wednesday Michael Walchhofer pulled in his third victory this season. Once again the Austrian Skiing Association (ÖSV) athlete, who recently signed up to a sponsorship deal with TechnoAlpin Austria GmbH, left his competitors behind on the descent in Bormio (ITA). The runners-up were Silvan Zurbriggen of Switzerland and Christoph Innerhofer of Italy.
In his last season as a professional Walchhofer has thus demonstrated once again that he is very much a contender for the little crystal globe this year. Whoever wins on the Stelvio can win anywhere. Bormio has hosted the Alpine Ski World Cup every year since 1993. The "Pista Stelvio" has earned a reputation over time as one of the most difficult downhill runs in the world alongside the "Streif" in Kitzbühel (AUT) and the "Birds of Prey" in Beaver Creek (USA). The slope is particularly steep, fast and winding. The beginning is the toughest part of the race as it is the steepest section of the entire course.
Walchhofer has proved several times already that he has what it takes for the downhill in Bormio. This was his third outing on the "Pista Stelvio". TechnoAlpin has a valuable contribution to make beyond its role as sponsor. The World Cup race in Bormio is traditionally held on TechnoAlpin snow. The snow experts have been guaranteeing the supply of snow in Valtellina ski resort since 2002. Some 200 snow guns produce high-quality snow for the 50 kilometers of slope. TechnoAlpin fan guns and snow lances can be relied on again and again to provide a good service for the World Cup. In this way ideal conditions are guaranteed, even for the favorites with the high start numbers. "We are reliant on the snow-making technology, both in the races and in the training sessions", said Walchhofer, "and TechnoAlpin makes sure that conditions are ideal, and - most importantly -consistently so, on many World Cup slopes like this one in Bormio and on our training runs".
TechnoAlpin is delighted to have contributed to the success of "our" athlete and the whole company sends its warmest congratulations to Michael Walchhofer on his third win of the season.
