Automation for Ascou

The ski resort of Ascou-Pailhères lies in the south-west of France in the heart of the Pyrenees. There has already been a semi-automatic lance system in use there for a few years but it only provided snow in the lower section of the resort. They were still dependent on natural snow at the top. The plan was to change this situation in 2011.
When they developed the top slope sections they decided to automate the existing system as well. The aims in doing this were to use the available resources more sparingly and to increase the efficiency of the system. In their bid to achieve these aims they now rely on the expertise of TechnoAlpin France. A new pump has increased the water flow and the pressure. The pumping capacity has been doubled. New snow guns have been installed and the existing ones automated in order to improve the snow quality. The new system will be controlled in future via the TechnoAlpin control system ATASSplus.
Ascou is a small village in the west of France. Of the original 800+ inhabitants only just under 100 were left in the 1960s. The population is now growing again thanks to the tourism. Ascou-Pailhères has plenty of variety to offer and 14 slopes.
The project at a glance:
8x V3
Automation of 18 existing lances
1250 m of data cable for automation
550 m of line material
