80 Automatic Rubis Evo’s in Squaw Valley
The ski resort of Squaw Valley (CA) was an early adopter of automatic snowmaking technology in North America. The operator of the ski resort has always been very happy with the production performance of his approximately 160 Borax snow producers already installed on the slopes of Squaw.
This is because early season snowmaking in California is characterized by marginal temperatures. Conditions that are difficult but in which the Borax snow producers have always excelled, probably being the best performers of the market.
However, over the last two years the team of MYNEIGE / TechnoAlpin USA has successfully demonstrated to the ski resort operator, both in side by side demonstration and also by using Squaws weather records on Liberty's historical data bases that Rubis Evolution, in the warm climate nozzle configuration, outperformed the Borax at 1/10 of the energy.
This demonstration and the fact that the installation of Squaw Valley like many customers' snowmaking installations was air limited in the higher temperature ranges lead the resort operator to look into expanding his snowmaking system with Rubis Evolution. The reason being the ultra-low air consumption of the Rubis Evo; this feature makes possible to operate more snow producers for a given volume of air.
The recent introduction of 80 new Rubis Evolution on the trails of Squaw Valley has reversed that trend regarding the air capacity of the installation. And Squaw is now able to make dramatic improvements in the water they convert to snow in the early season, for the great pleasure of the resort's guests.
