Astún's modernization is up and running
Nestled in the high peaks of the Western Pyrenees in the Aragón region lies the Astún ski resort. After several years of disuse, a full modernization program was started in 2008, which has given Astún a brand new look. Investments are being made in snow-making equipment and lift systems, as well as in the tourist infrastructure.
Modern accommodation and a new indoor car park are just part of the plans. Now modern lift systems can take ski fans to a total of 46 slopes directly from the resort. To achieve an optimum and consistent snow quality on all of the runs, the snow-making equipment has been continuously expanded and modernized. Construction work has even been continuing this summer. A new pumping and compressor plant has been built; 11x T40 on towers, 6x T60 on towers and 11x V3 snow lances were delivered this summer alone; and 29 pits have been installed. This means that for the coming season, a total of 56 fans guns and 52 snow lances from TechnoAlpin will be providing guaranteed snow on the slopes of Astún. The system is controlled using ATASSplus control software.
