Cross-country snow-making in Obergoms
Rescue on hand for the longest continuous cross-country ski trail in the Alps: In Obergoms (Switzerland), the TechnoAlpin snow-making system defied the poor snowfall at the start of winter in Europe. As one of the first cross-country trails in Switzerland, Obergoms has a fixed snow-making system. Over the Christmas period, some 45 kilometers of trails were open to winter sports fans, thanks to this equipment. The trail connects 12 villages and offers a wide variety of options, from simple, short excursions to long and demanding routes.
The trail’s snow-making system consists of nine lances and three T40 fan guns. The system has a total of 31 pits. According to the Swiss newspaper “Walliser Bote”, a major result in terms of revenue was recorded over Christmas and New Year. The CEO of Obergoms Tourism, Roberto Imobersdorf, confirmed that the opening of the 45 km cross-country trail was only possible thanks to the new snow-making system, which was inaugurated in November.
