Snowbasin gets new Rubis EVOs
Matt Newton, Jim Trujillo, and Michael Wisner, of the TechnoAlpin Denver Warehouse, line up 40 fully automatic Rubis EVOs headed to Snowbasin UT. Snowbasin is one of our largest Liberty customers with about 450 mostly Borax B-6’s.
Snowbasin and Sun Valley are sister companies and two years ago the Snowmaking Manager at Sun Valley, Dennis Harper, did a yearlong test that showed management the incredibly quick Return On Investment created by swapping out the Borax that both resorts have loved for years, for the newer, much more efficient Rubis EVO. In the case of a critical gun location that would get lots of run time, the ROI was shown to be less than one year!
Although it’s a great marginal temperature snowgun, Borax can use up to 200 cfm at the ragged edge of snowmaking. Rubis EVO, less than 18 cfm! In the last two years, Sun Valley has swapped out 120 Borax for Rubis EVOs. Now the migration moves to Snowbasin who has even more Rubis EVOs planned for the future.
A word about re-packaging. EVO’s come to us in a sea container with just the 36’ shaft and head. We off load them by hand, a brutal job that we would not wish on our resort customers. We custom configure the valves at the base of the gun for manual or automatic and then re-bundle and secure the finished product such that the resort can pick off 8 at a time with a fork lift, saving time and labor in the field.
