Snowmaking system design: Bringing an idea to life
Over the last years, ski resorts the world over have had to rely more and more on snowmaking to secure their winter operations. Climatic evolutions make natural snow fall uncertain, particularly at the beginning of the season, when ski resorts guests start to hear the call of winter sports!
With the need for snowmaking comes also great demand by ski resorts operators for high performance and tailored solutions! This is what TechnoAlpin strives to bring to its customers.
Tailored technical specifications
It all starts with the data collection process on site and the analysis of parameters to be able to design the right system! The items to be taken into account for each site are multiple and complex: From the operator's needs and objectives, to complementing existing installations, or safety requirements and budgetary framework... as well as resort specific weather, terrain configuration, or availability of water resources. All these items are reviewed closely with the ski resorts operator.
The goal is to be able to offer a snowmaking solution which can provide basic ground coverage in fewest possible hours. In that respect, all the windows of opportunity in terms of temperatures, even the smallest ones, and the available resources must be utilized and optimized for snow production.
System design and Energy efficiency
While snow production performance is the driver behind the system design philosophy of TechnoAlpin, it must be done keeping in sight the need for Energy Efficiency and snowmaking cost control! To achieve these multiple objectives TechnoAlpin spends a great deal of attention to the sizing phase as well as to the design of the pump stations and machine rooms of its snowmaking systems. This is the major step that allows making sure the pumping and air capacity of the snowmaking system will always be maximized, to reach the production requirements of the ski resort operator.
In order to maximize utilization, a careful selection of components (pumps, compressors and valves) associated to the control equipment (PLCs), will be done. Each PLC, in charge of monitoring the operation locally, will have its specific program according to the pump station and machine room design and will communicate with the control software. To ensure the reliability of its systems, TechnoAlpin only uses high-quality and heavy-duty components for its machine rooms.
All these factors combined make TechnoAlpin snowmaking installations the most reliable and the most efficient tools that will answer to every operator's snowmaking needs and issues.
