LEVI (FIN) – second worldcup destination got race approval
After the opening of the FIS Alpine world series in Sölden (AUT) end of October, now the whole skiing world is watching to LEVI (FIN) for its man and ladies competition on Nov. 15. and 16. 2008. The approval of the competition slope was given recently by the FIS inspector due to the good snowmaking and slope preparation.
The water supply system and its mountain infrastructure was increased this year by the installation of an additional pumping station with capacity of 1000m³/h, the biggest for snowmaking so far in Finland, said Jouni Palosaari (CEO of LEVI ski resort). Snowmaking has started with the first opportunity of good temperatures on Oct. 28.2008, even if it the temp. was very marginal. Within the first week some 70.000m³ of water have been sprayed out to the competition slope and several other training slopes.
