Saas Fee trusts in TechnoAlpin’s proven Quadrijet nozzle technology
TechnoAlpin's long years of experience with atomization and nucleator engineering are the basis of the excellent quality of snow available with TechnoAlpin snowmaking systems. The robust and hard-wearing Quadrijet nozzles with ceramic inserts guarantee optimum atomization over long years of service life, even where aggressive glacier water is used.
Peter Geiser (photo), Chief Engineer at Bergbahnen Saas Fee (CH), puts it like this: "In Saas Fee we not only use groundwater and spring water but also glacier water. Because of the glacial sediments, the latter has a particularly high suspended solid content, which is very difficult to filter out and cannot be removed entirely. Such particles are bad news for conventional valves made of chrome steel or hardened steel, which suffer from the abrasive effects of the particles. And what it means to replace the valves on snow guns with up to 320 valves doesn't bear thinking about. That was the logic behind the decision taken in 1998 to invest in TechnoAlpin snow guns with a smaller number of Quadrijet nozzles with ceramic inserts."
The TechnoAlpin Quadrijet nozzles offer outstanding service life. "After ten years and an average of 5,000 operating hours per machine, we haven't had to replace a single nozzle," concludes a highly satisfied Peter Geiser.
