TechnoAlpin project: Nordic Center Notschrei (GER)
"Hinterzarten hosts the world"- This is the slogan that will accompany the FIS Nordic Skiing Junior World Championship to be held from 24 to 31 January 2010 in the Black Forest.
For this sporting event the organizing committee expects 1,000 participants from 35 different countries. The ski jumping and combined competitions will be held in the Adler skiing stadium in Hinterzarten, while the cross-country skiing races will be held on the Notschrei. To get ready for the great event, the existing biathlon track at Nordic Center Notschrei is being expanded. This project includes an expansion of the light projector system, and the installation of a powerful TechnoAlpin snow-making system.
With the new plant, artificial snow cover will become possible on a circuit 2.5 km long. Almost 1,500 m of pipes and cables will be laid in the ground and 14 concrete shelters with underground connection points will be installed. The water for snow-making will come from a reservoir, still to be built, which will have a capacity of about 2,000 m3. As the system is laid out along a crest, a water supply pumping system with a flow rate of 5 l/s will transport the water through an existing conduit 1,100 m long to the reservoir. The pump station – also new – will have a capacity of 20 l/s. It can be housed in an existing building. In the first season two TechnoAlpin M12 Automatic and two M18 Automatic mobile fan machines will be used. The construction work started at the beginning of July.
