The efficiency of TechnoAlpin snow guns
No other sport is as closely connected to nature as skiing. Our company revolves around skiing and works in close contact with the mountains. This is why making use of available resources in an environmentally friendly way is of particular importance to us. TechnoAlpin works hard to increase the efficiency of all components. From designing plants to pump stations, and from snow guns to control units: we are always searching for potential that can be taken advantage of to optimize our systems. And the results can be seen: thanks to intelligent snow-making systems, energy consumption has continuously improved over recent years.
The TechnoAlpin Research and Development department works constantly to improve the efficiency of our snow guns: the goal is to produce more snow while using fewer resources. In the case of fan guns, the Quadrijet nozzles with ceramic inserts ensure uniform high-performing pulverization, meaning more snow is produced with the same amount of water.
Juris Panzani, TechnoAlpin's Product Managers tells us how the energy efficiency of TechnoAlpin fan guns has increased over the last ten years: “In 2005, our M20 fan gun was the absolute top on the global market: just think of the oil-free compressor, aluminum blades, ceramic nozzles, and much more. Ten years later, our TF10 fan gun is the best on the market, thanks to several innovations in performance, secure operation, ease of use and environmental-friendliness (LED lights, low thermal power, recyclable plastic, etc.).” Both generators have 18.5 kW of fan power and a 4 kW compressor, and their energy consumption is very similar. The difference between the TF10 and the M20 is that it produces 30% more snow while consuming the same amount of energy.
“We could also compare the M20 snow gun with the T40 if we wanted to,” continues Panzani. “However, the T40 has 12.5 kW of fan power (a good 6 kW less than the M20), which corresponds to a 30% decrease in electrical consumption.”
“Thanks to these comparisons, we can clearly state that thanks to constant research, in ten years we have been able to decrease energy consumption by 30%, or, leaving energy consumption static, increase snow production by 30%.”
In addition, despite its impressive power, the classic TF10 is one of the quietest snow guns on the market, which makes it ideal for snow-making in natural reserves or near residential areas.
TechnoAlpin continues to aim for continuous improvement. In fact, from the very start the company has developed its products by always aiming for maximum performance and minimum waste, working to guarantee ever better snow quality and quantity. The results have been clear in recent years.
