The World Championship of the Trentino and Italy gets started
The Nordic World Ski Championships return to Val di Fiemme for the third time. After the events of 1991 and 2003, the Valle Trentina can hardly wait to participate in the Nordic Skiing festival meticulously organized in every detail and run in an extraordinary manner.
Pietro De Godenz, President of the Trentino Fiemme 2013 Executive Committee, is more than satisfied with the work done by all those who, together, now form a large family.
With the Opening Ceremony on February 20 in Trento, the World Championships were officially inaugurated, while the first races started in the afternoon with the men and women's 10 and 5 km cross-country qualifying races. But the World Championship is not only Cross Country Skiing, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined: on the 17th the "Stradivari a Palazzo" [Stradivarius at the Palace] exhibit, the Farmers' Market and many other special exhibits opened. The Italian Postal Service dedicated an 85 cent stamp to the Trentino Fiemme 2013 World Championships. De Godenz says he is very proud of everything that they have managed to organize during the Pre-World Championships period.
And it goes without saying that the snowmaking with the TechnoAlpin guns did not disappoint. "This year we produced a lot more snow than in previous years. The snow is compact and, in a word, perfect. Of course, the frequent snowfalls helped us - something we did not have last year. Thanks to the fixed and mobile guns, we managed to prepare the slopes in 4/5 days", said De Godenz. The President of the Executive Committee also said a few words about TechnoAlpin: "The cooperation with TechnoAlpin is always a guarantee for us, both for Nordic and Alpine skiing. We have never been "let down", they are punctual and the product is always state of the art. Every year, we can count on an innovation and customer service which is the best there is."
TechnoAlpin was the snowmaking partner at the 2003 World Championships. For these World Championships, the system was upgraded and expanded: in the Cross Country Stadium two M12 units on towers and four fixed lances were installed. Five Mobile T40 units and one T60 guarantee snow outside the stadium. 1 cooling tower was added to the other 2 already present in the stadium, while the existing pumping station was enlarged. Instead as regards the snowmaking at Predazzo, TechnoAlpin installed two M12 units on arms at the exit of the two ski jumps.
"These World Championships definitively puts us in a leadership position as a location for Nordic skiing. In this way, we also want to attract clientele for Alpine skiing. Thanks to the 19 peripheral events, we want to transform these World Championships into a 360° sporting event."
At the center of World Championships is the Val di Fiemme and the Trentino, with their landscapes, traditions and people. Everyone has given their utmost so that these World Championships will be an unforgettable experience not just because of the sport but also because of the entertainment, the friendship and significant cultural moments.
Good Luck from everyone at TechnoAlpin - may the World Championships be memorable.
