Here comes the World Cup season 2012/2013
Everything is ready for the next World Cup campaign, as the 2012–13 season kicks off in Sölden in just a few days' time.
This winter will be full of important events, like the World Ski Championships in Schladming (AUT), the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme (ITA), the Freestyle World Ski Championships in Oslo and Voss (NOR) and, of course, the timeless World Cup classics.
The Ski World Cup season gets under way in Sölden (AUT) on October 27–28, and the curtain-raiser will be the women's giant slalom. On Sunday, it's the men's turn. The second leg features the slalom two weeks later in Levi (FIN), while the usual overseas competitions will be taking place in November and December.
Val d'Isère (FRA) hosts a Ski World Cup stage in December, when giant slalom racers and downhillers fight it out on the French resort's slopes. It's no secret that, this year, Madonna di Campiglio (ITA) returns as a World Cup venue, as the slalom plays out on the 3Tre slopes.
To round the year off in the best possible style, the men's downhill in Bormio (ITA) is scheduled for late December.
The Croatian capital Zagreb is hosting the men's and women's World Cup slalom again at the start of 2013. The classic races, including the women's SuperG and downhill, are in January at Cortina d'Ampezzo (ITA).
Then, from February 5 to 17, the most eagerly anticipated event of the winter season – the World Ski Championships – is coming to Schladming (AUT). This is one of the White circus's finest locations, and thousands of spectators are expected to attend. TechnoAlpin will be ensuring optimum snow conditions throughout the event; so the Championships are sure to be as spectacular as ever.
This year, Val di Fiemme will be the Nordic Skiing capital of the world for the fourth time, confirming its status as one of the best resorts in the current White circus calendar. Val di Fiemme is another customer that has placed their faith in TechnoAlpin's snow-making experience for several years now.
Then, from March 5 to 10, the Freestyle World Ski Championships will be contested in Voss (NOR), on TechnoAlpin snow, as ever.
The grand final of this year's Ski World Cup will take place in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, from March 13 to 17, 2013. Only the very best racers will be there and, at the culmination of the event, the winners are crowned in all the various disciplines, including the overall champions.
