Ellmau: Greater efficiency in snowmaking

TechnoAlpin has demonstrated its expertise in the construction of state-of-the-art facilities in the large-scale project undertaken in Ellmau in the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser in the Austrian region of Tyrol. The existing snowmaking system was modernized and expanded in 2022 to guarantee efficient snowmaking for the whole area. The aim of the project was also to cut CO₂ emissions by significantly shortening the snowing time.

The modernization program included the installation of new snow guns and cooling towers alongside the construction of a pumping station using IO link technology. The entire system is controlled by ATAsspro software. Thanks to the measures taken, the full snowmaking period has been reduced from eight to four days. This also ensures that the snow windows are put to optimum use and the system can operate at optimum efficiency. This makes the snowmaking process more efficient and enhances safety across the entire region.
