Dear Reader,
here our latest news from Australia and New Zealand!

Ohau earliest season opening in its history

Technik News Ohau is centrally situated two thirds of the way down the South Island of New Zealand in a picturesque lake-side location. Don't let the traditional meaning of Ohau turn you off - "Place of Wind". At 2000m above sea level, there is plenty of fresh air around. This winter has turned out to be a big one, beginning with an historic "early start" for the 2009 season. Mike Neilson, Managing Director, and Craig Ovenden, Operations Manager, were both very excited at the prospect of being open on 27th June with great conditions and solid forward bookings showing all the signs of a healthy season. TechnoAlpin guns have helped mother nature along from early June and still going. "The bookings for this winter are very strong considering the current world economics and we are very pleased at how things are progressing at Ohau" says Mike Neilson. Currently the snow depth is 2m at the top with good clear conditions, excellent groomed trails and some decent off piste to be found. Add to this cold temps and recent falls. It's all go for skiers and boarders at Ohau. Not long now until mid September when they'll celebrate the infamous 'Ohau Snowball', a fancy dress, season highlight and an event not to be missed!

New Zealand show case TechnoAlpin to Korean visitors

Technik News TechnoAlpin recently hosted the Korean Ski Resort Business Association (KSRBA). This delegation consists of both Ski Area Managers and Operations Managers from Korea's largest Ski Resorts. This invitation only event was extended by TechnoAlpin for the group to experience 'first hand' our snowmaking installations at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Ohau and Snow Park. Whilst visiting the ski fields and touring operations we were able to demonstrate and showcase the capabilities of our new and existing fleet of guns, highlighting the benefits and technical aspects whilst having fun along the way. This was all possible with the great assistance and support from each of our New Zealand customers and the trip was a resounding success. The delegation arrived on 22nd June and throughout their 6 day stay they had mostly spectacular weather and some great skiing. Thanks team NZ!

Popular A30 - High demand on demonstrators in Australia & New Zealand

Technik News The demand for TechnoAlpin demo equipment is strong and the itinerary is a skiers dream. We have been very busy currently installing and running equipment in Australia between Mt Buller and Falls Creek in Victoria, as well as Thredbo and Perisher in New South Wales. Whilst in New Zealand we are doing the same between Treble Cone, Porters, Roundhill and Coronet Peak. The demo equipment includes:
- 6 x A30
- 3 x T60
- 1 x Piano

It seems the word is out about just how good these snow guns are and so everyone wants a piece of the action. The feedback so far has been excellent - Paul Lambert, our TechnoAlpin technician in NZ, and Manuel Schoepf, our technician in Australia, are both doing a great job and have been busy shifting and setting up the demo guns in each of the ski resorts as well as being responsible for operating the equipment and ensuring the smooth delivery of the tests and full operational demonstration. Thanks boys, you can rest come Summer!

  TechnoAlpossum

Technik News Look closely and you will see just how much the Australians love the TechnoAlpin equipment. It's so good you just can't drag yourself away from it. This little critter is taking refuge in one of the snow gun covers, more comfortable than a tree. I wonder what this Possum thought that night as the gun kicked into life! This goes to show - just like in all our previous stories - everyone wants to know more about our equipment - now they have taken to 'sleeping out' to line up for a good position. Hang on! This looks a little like one of the technicians - caught having a siesta....

  Technology TechnoAlpin: Hydromat WO

Technik News Fully automatic pressure control valve with automatic closing function should power be lost and integrated discharge valve. The water pressure is controlled and thus the water flow is regulated by throttling the water volume flow on the control valve. The motor drive, through reduction gearboxes and worm gear, allows the control valve - and consequently the water pressure - to be precisely regulated. The automatic close function, should power be lost, is implemented by the downstream ON-OFF valve. The valve is hydraulically controlled and opens and closes with the water pressure. The discharge valve opens if the control valve closes after the snow gun‘s pressure falls below a defined limit value. The discharge valve enables the snow gun’s components that have water flowing through them to be discharged automatically. Fully automatic operation is achieved when connected to an automatic snow gun. In this case the power is supplied via the data line connection. The hydrant has zero voltage once the data line has been removed. For manual operation a suitable transformer socket must be connected upstream to supply electricity to the data socket either at 230 V or 400 V. The Hydromat WO is controlled manually via an appropriate keyboard connected to the transformer at a data socket. The water supply system is connected either with the screw-in connection set or with the “Kamlok quick closure”, as desired. The water supply pipe is connected to the snow gun with a “two inch screw” or “Kamlok quick closure”.
