The assembly lines in TechnoAlpin's production department have speeded up. For the snow experts, May to December is peak season. Notwithstanding the production levels, excitement has also been building in the assembly department. The reason: the first model T40 snow guns were ready for delivery.

At long last TechnoAlpin has begun the long awaited move into its new headquarters. The first members of staff have been working in the new building since August 16. The first part to be relocated to Bolzano was the “Wurza” store, which had been situated near to Leifers (ITA) around six kilometers south of Bolzano. It is now the turn of the office staff in the next phase.

Environmental protection has been an issue of focus at TechnoAlpin since its early days. Back at the end of the 1990s the product development team at TechnoAlpin had already set itself the ambitious target of making sure that not one single drop of oil would leach into the environment through snow-making technology. Every snow gun was to be fitted with an oil-free compressor of aluminum. TechnoAlpin joined forces with leading compressor manufacturer KAESER and together they developed the KTC 840, an oil-free piston compressor with integrated cooling circuit. This has been used in all TechnoAlpin snow guns without exception since 1999. Whether the lance or fan gun, automatic or manual – the oil-free compressor is fitted as standard.

Monitoring industrial plants visually is becoming increasingly popular. Plant failures can be detected earlier, making them easier to repair. A webcam is now available to TechnoAlpin customers so that they too can monitor their plants. The system is predominantly designed for monitoring pumping plants but it can be used to monitor reservoirs too.

In 2008, TechnoAlpin launched its software control system, ATASSplus. Today, five ATASSplus programmers at TechnoAlpin are responsible for this system. “The software, being entirely developed by our company, means we are not dependent on external suppliers”, explains Erich Gummerer, Managing Director. “This enables us to be extremely flexible. Any problem which might arise can be solved immediately in-house.”

Winter sports – today's trends

 
 
The 2009/2010 winter sports season enjoyed a particularly full schedule of events. This is also reflected in the increased number of spectators at the FIS World Championship races. Athletes from the six disciplines (ski jumping, snowboarding, and alpine, cross country, Nordic combined and freestyle skiing) provided an exciting time for more than 2,000,000 spectators – significantly more than last year. The efforts made by the FIS and 108 organizers for the World Championship have been rewarded.
