Gardena Valley turns to automation

During the course of the last 20 years, TechnoAlpin’s list of references has gradually increased. Today, the full-range supplier of snow-making systems counts 936 customers in 41 countries throughout the world from Canada through Serbia to Mongolia. The headquarters of the company Sciovie Ortisei Srl, which operates two ski-lifts in the famous Gardena Valley, are based near those of TechnoAlpin in Bolzano.

The Palmer and Furdenan ski-lifts are based in the center of Ortisei, the largest of the Gardena Valley’s three towns. Technical snow-making systems have been in operation since 2002, ensuring that the slopes remain skiable throughout the entire winter season. The equipment features a pump station including a water extractor with a conveying capacity of 20 l/s, 1 km of cast piping and data cables and 13 hydrants. 1 x T60, 2 x A9 and 2 x A30 snow lances provide the snow for the slopes. Two particularly low noise PIANO-type fan guns are located near the neighboring buildings. The customer Sciovie Ortisei Srl has been controlling the system since the start of the 2009/10 season with TechnoAlpin's ATASSplus software, which, in this case, was enhanced with an additional water management module. This ensures that the snow guns are efficiently supplied with water from the Gardena Valley river.
