SD500: TechnoAlpin is revolutionizing indoor snowmaking
Ski centers face particular challenges when it comes to maintaining their slopes. This week at SnowWorld in Zoetermeer, a new snow gun designed for indoor snowmaking was presented, which will help to significantly reduce resource usage when in operation.
Indoor snowmaking differs considerably to classic outdoor snowmaking. High air humidity, limited cooling capacity and restricted space all have a big effect on snowmaking inside of the center. TechnoAlpin brings the new SD500 snow gun to the market especially for these challenging circumstances. SD500 is the first fan gun for indoor snowmaking. Innovation leader TechnoAlpin is thus bringing its many years of experience in snowmaking and proven components to the indoor sector.
The new fan gun has been tested extensively at SnowWorld in Zoetermeer over the past few weeks, and has been further developed in collaboration with global market leader TechnoAlpin’s development department. “We are excited by the new technology. Here at SnowWorld, we focus on using the most efficient and modern solutions in all areas so that we can operate our ski centers as sustainably as possible. SD500 will help us make snowmaking significantly more efficient in the future,” explains Wim Hubrechsten, CEO of SnowWorld. Around 50 ski center operators from around the globe were convinced by the benefits of the SD500 at its launch event.
Intelligent solutions for increased efficiency
Like all TechnoAlpin snow guns, the SD500 makes snow using exclusively water and air. The snow nozzle works in combination with cold airflow produced from the turbine pipe to ensure that snowflakes immediately freeze to form the finest powdered snow. The SD500 can be adjusted to its optimum snow position via a horizontal and vertical adjustment mechanism. This ensures targeted snowmaking on ski slopes, playgrounds and sceneries alike. The large throwing range ensures snow coverage in large spaces with only one device, thereby reducing the amount of slope preparation and snow grooming work, bringing snow to every angle of the indoor facility.
The SD500 is controlled using the intelligent ATASSpro control system, which also helps to make snowmaking on ski slopes much simpler and more efficient.
The system’s low weight and compact design mean it is easy to install in different situations on roofs or walls, allowing discrete integration in any ski center. High product flexibility makes the SD500 the ideal snow gun for indoor ski centers of any size.
