Cortina d‘Ampezzo: World championship snow for the 2021 world champions

When the world's best downhill skiers take daring jumps over the new Vertigine slope and the fastest skiers glide through the striking Tofana rock formations in 2021, TechnoAlpin will also be out in front. Nine of the eleven events at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina d‘Ampezzo in 2021 will be held on slopes covered with snow provided by the world market leader.

Having hosted the 1956 Olympic Games and the World Championships in 1932 and 1941, the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites will be the venue for a major skiing event for the fourth time. The snowmaking system has been modernized in preparation for this occasion in order to optimize conditions. The downhill events, the Super G, the giant slalom, the parallel slalom and the team event in 2021 will be held on the slopes of Ista Cortina, a TechnoAlpin customer from the very beginning. A total of 32 new fan guns, including six TR10, eight TR8 and three TF10 models, will ensure optimum snow conditions. The capacity of the Duca d'Aosta and Piè Tofana pumping stations will also be significantly increased in order to ensure optimum water supply to the system.

The resort of Impianti Averau (Cinque Torri) will be used at the 2021 World Cup for the qualifiers, and the slopes will be used for training purposes. Other investments which will be made here to meet the world championship standards will include the installation of 14 new TR8 fan guns, the modernization and expansion of the two pumping stations at Bai de Dones and Potor, and the installation of pits, pipes and cables.
