FIS and TechnoAlpin increase cooperation

TechnoAlpin has been the official product partner of FIS since 2016 and, in this role, is also the contact partner for technical issues concerning snowmaking. A high-calibre delegation of the FIS, including Markus Waldner and Emmanuel Couder (Directors for Men's Alpine Races) as well as Atle Skaardal and Markus Mayr (Directors for Women's Alpine Races) visited the TechnoAlpin headoffice in Bolzano to increase cooperation and to provide even better support for the competition sites of the FIS World Cup races.

The delegation was welcomed by Benjamin Pötz, Export Director at TechnoAlpin: "The feedback from the race directors is extremely important for the further development of our products and services. At the same time, we are also proud to be able to show off our latest developments to this group of experts every year and to get their constructive feedback.”

Accurate weather predictions for specific sites as well as the SnowManagement module that forms part of the ATASSplus software attracted special interest at the workshop. This will provide FIS officials and World Cup destinations with better support for planning and decision-making processes in future.

The experience with the Snowfactory that TechnoAlpin has gained in recent years proved to be very informative for the FIS representatives. Vedran Pavlek, director of the Croatian Ski Association, and Igor Ziljak, Operating Manager in Sljeme, also participated in the workshop. The World Cup races in Zagreb last year were partially held on Snowfactory snow for the first time.

Markus Waldner confirmed the positive nature of this exchange of experiences: "We have been attending the TechnoAlpin summer workshop for years. It is important for us to know which new products and solutions industry will offer. The Sljeme example (use of Snowfactory) also shows how well this close cooperation works. I look forward to coming back to Bolzano in the summer of 2019!”
