World market leaders organize professional exchange

Local conditions, such as altitude, climate, terrain profile, water resources and many other factors, make every ski resort an entirely unique challenge. TechnoAlpin, Kässbohrer and Doppelmayr invited their customers on two insightful educational visits.

Networking meeting in the Ötztal Valley in Tyrol

The Ötztal Valley in Tyrol is one of the most successful tourist regions in the Alps. At the beginning of March, ski resort operators from Poland set off on an educational visit to the ski resorts of Sölden and Hochgurgl. Sölden has 31 lift systems with a passenger capacity of around 65,500 per hour and is without doubt one of the most state-of-the-art ski areas in the Alps. In addition to perfectly prepared slopes, the Alpine hot spot boasts a multitude of bars, cafés, restaurants, snow parks, wellness oases and much more, which generate almost two million overnight stays annually. The ski resort of Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, just a few kilometers from Sölden, offers an equally successful program by contrast with a focus on the luxury segment. The winter sports resort dubbed the “Diamond of the Alps” finds itself at the top of the Ötztal Alps. During the visit those taking part were offered the opportunity to get to know the two ski resorts better. They also had the chance to talk to the managers of the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski resort and to tourism experts on the Ötztal Valley.

Flagship destination Sochi

Ski resort operators from Switzerland met in Sochi in mid-March to compare notes. The spa town on the Black Sea and the district of the same name was the host city for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The winter destination of Krasnaya Polyana is situated 40 km from the coast and is also known as the “Russian Switzerland” due to its lake and mountain scenery. Krasnaya Polyana has been developed into an exclusive winter sports resort in recent years with investment running into billions. It was here the Olympic snow sports events were held. The resort comprises four ski areas by the names of Rosa Khutor, Laura Psekhako Ridge Gazprom, Alpika Service and Gornaya Karusel. Here the visitors listened to a summary of the Olympic Games and learned some interesting facts about the ski resorts in the region. The visit also included a trip to the Olympic Park which is home to the Olympic Stadium, the Medals Plaza and the Sochi Autodrom.
