Saalbach-Hinterglemm hosts a FIS World Cup stage

The ski resort located in the Austrian Alps is hosting a World Cup stage on February 13 and 14. The races, originally planned in China at the Yanqing Olympic site, have been moved back to Europe because of the coronavirus outbreak. The decision to move the race to Europe was taken by the FIS and the Chinese ski federation in late January.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm offers all the guarantees necessary for the organization of such a competition, even at the last minute. The resort’s equipment, including the snowmaking installation from TechnoAlpin, ensures the best possible conditions for this major sporting event on the FIS winter calendar. On the agenda of the two days of skiing races: Men’s Downhill and Men's Super-G on the legendary world cup track, on the Zwölferkogel.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is integrated into the greater ski area of Skicircus, which also includes the Fieberbrunn and Leogang sites. In order to offer the highest quality ski product possible, the operators of the ski area have made massive investments in snowmaking in recent years, particularly since 2006. Cooperation with the ski area dates back to 1992, with the introduction of in place of the 1st TechnoAlpin fan snow gun. This cooperation, which has grown steadily over the years, testifies to the confidence in the solutions offered by TechnoAlpin. Since 2015, TechnoAlpin has installed no less than 6 pumping stations in order to guarantee the supply of water to 1,350 snow guns present on all the pistes of the different sites, from a network of 13 altitude reservoirs.

Following the numerous snowmaking projects, the latest being in 2019, 999 fan guns are now installed on the slopes of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Therefore, this makes it one of the biggest TechnoAlpin customers in terms of number of snow guns installed. To mark this significant number, the management team of Saalbach-Hinterglemm and TechnoAlpin gathered on the slopes of the ski resort last January to celebrate this successful cooperation.
