TechnoAlpin secures major contract in Georgia
The 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships will be held in Georgia. Considerable investments are being made in the chosen venue, Bakuriani, in preparation for this major event. TechnoAlpin won the tender for the first construction lot back in 2021. Twenty-six fan guns and 2.6 km of cast-iron pipelines were installed last year in readiness for the test events. The latter were successfully completed in early 2022.
TechnoAlpin has now been awarded the contract for the second, more extensive construction lot to be carried out this year. This comprises 4 machine rooms, 29 km of cast-iron pipes, 60 km of aluminum cables and 26 km of data cables. 230 shafts will be installed to accommodate the latest generation of snow guns: 37 x TR10 mobile, 63 x TT10 and 121 x TL4 snow lances with central air supply. The entire system will be controlled by the latest version of the ATASSpro software. A software update contract has also been concluded to guarantee optimum efficiency and to benefit from the latest developments. Ten weather stations will also be constructed in the ski area to ensure that snow production is constantly adapted in line with the prevailing conditions.
When the Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships were awarded in 2018, the then Minister of Culture and Sport, Mikheil Giorgadze, pledged that Georgia would do everything in its power to organize the event according to the highest international standards. And this pledge is now certainly coming to fruition. The ultimate goal is to promote the future of winter sports in Georgia and consolidate the country's position in this respect. Mountains make up 70% of the Georgian landscape - hence the country is more or less predestined to become a successful winter sports venue.
