The Kurza Góra Project guarantees snow coverage even at low altitudes
TechnoAlpin was commissioned to deliver a special project in the Polish ski resort of Kurza Góra. Boasting three illuminated ski slopes, a winter amusement park, three lifts and two magic carpets, this is the biggest ski area in Northern Poland. The relatively young resort was constructed in 2015. In 2018, TechnoAlpin was awarded the contract to install a turnkey snowmaking system.
Given Kurza Góra’s location at an altitude ranging from 100 to 145 meters above sea level, TechnoAlpin faced a particular challenge in guaranteeing reliable snow coverage throughout the entire winter season. Twelve TF10 fan guns, four TR10 fan guns and eight additional snow guns were delivered alongside the construction of a new reservoir and pumping station.
However, the delivery of three SF 210 SnowFactories proved crucial for ensuring an early start and a sufficiently long winter season. This innovative snowmaking technology produces top-quality snow regardless of the air temperature. An efficient heat exchanger cools the water down to freezing point without chemical additives, and enables snow production in a closed circuit no matter what the outside temperature. This ensures snow coverage in early November despite above-zero temperatures, guaranteeing an annual start to the winter season at the end of November. In addition, thanks to the special consistency, snow can be produced regardless of the weather conditions and only melts slowly. Therefore, the end of the season can be extended to the end of March every year.
