Three countries and their vision of the future

The past few weeks have shaken the foundations of the world as we knew it. Recently there have been signs of a reawakening in tourism. But what does the new reality mean for the cable car companies in the Alpine region? What preparations will have to be made and what will the summer season and next winter look like?

These subjects and other exciting topics were discussed last Wednesday, June 10, by three experts from the cable car industry at the virtual TechnoAlpin round table. Andy Varallo, president of the Alta Badia cableway consortium and vice-president of Dolomiti Superski, Jack Falkner, manager and co-owner of the Bergbahnen Sölden mountain lift company, and Reto Gurtner, president and chair of the Weisse Arena Group, were in discussions for about one hour, sharing interesting insights into their new daily routine and exchanging views on running the mountain railways after the corona lockdown. The video below (in German with English subtitles) explains why Sölden is definitely looking to further development in the future, how Dolomiti Superski is currently approaching the issue of investments, and what sales revenue is expected in Laax next winter. The complete discussion (in German) can be found on our YouTube channel.
