FIS World Cup Finals with Partner, TechnoAlpin USA

The FIS World Cup Finals concluded March 19 in Aspen.  Aspen Ski Corp, who has more than 100 TechnoAlpin guns, sought out TechnoAlpin USA to be a major sponsor.  TechnoAlpin has a global partnership with the FIS and we also sponsored the wildly successful Killington World Cup FIS race in November, so this was a natural.

It was a spectacular five days of racing in VERY warm, but absolutely gorgeous, Colorado weather.   Even after great snow in January, Aspen had hedged their bets on required snow depth and used their TechnoAlpin equipment to put down an extra 20 million gallons of water on the race course.  The bet paid off.  In temperatures that push the 60s for 10 days before the race and throughout FIS week, the courses held up magnificently.

The tracks allowed the world’s most elite skiers to strut their stuff.  22 year old Mikaela Shiffrin from Eagle / Vail Colorado was awarded a Crystal Globe for not only her specialty of slalom, but also for the overall World Cup!  As an American, Colorado based company, we couldn’t be more proud.  One of the winningest racers in history, Lindsay Vonn, a Vail CO skier, finish second in the downhill on an injury recovery year. Our parent company is Italian, and the Italians had remarkable results as well. 1-2 in Men’s Downhill with Paris and Fill. Paris, a second in Super G.  Italian women scored an unbelievable and unpreceded, 1-2-3 finish in GS with Brignone, Goggia and Bassino. In a close to our heart finish, Florian Eisath, son of a TechnoAlpin founder, skied into a tie for first in the early going. Florian was later pushed back to 5th by the FIS usual elite suspects, but a remarkable finish.  He always skis well in the US.

As a major sponsor, we had access to VIP tickets and some of our best customers came to share the World Cup experience with us.  Breckenridge, Winter Park, Beaver Creek, Little Switzerland and others took time out of one of the busiest weeks in American skiing to join us in watching the best skiers in the world in the final event of the FIS World Cup season.  What a party.
