As we’ve done in the past, this year too we invited anyone who was interested to a range of training events. The first one was held in Switzerland. Many people from all over Switzerland came together in Crans Montanato visit the ski resort and its snow-making system. Of course, this included the World Cup slopeand its 14x TF10s on 12 m arms. Two more events were held in Austria and Germany in mid-March. These focused on the topic “Will we soon have no more winters?”. Participants were given a demonstration of the Snowfactory and a very interesting presentation by our partner MeteoGroup on the weather patterns of the past and coming winters. They were also given an insight into weather data collection, which proved to be of great interest. The data compiled by MeteoGroup come from each local snow gun, are combined with meteorological model data and finally integrated into the weather module of the ATASSplus data control system. This provides very precise weather forecasts customized for use with snow guns even if there are major variations in temperature across the resort. The weather can be forecast accurately for up to 10 days ahead, helping the managers to decide where to deploy snow-making equipment and personnel for maximum efficiency and to select the right date for opening the slopes.
Another major success was our event in Avoriaz (France) in collaboration with PistenBully. The event considered the topic of “Snow management: from snow production to slope preparation”. In addition to the presentation of Snowfactory, the ATASSplus weather module from TechnoAlpin and the SNOWsat solution from PistenBully, there was a visit to the snow-making system in Avoriaz.
There will be another meeting in Italy in early April. Our customers will be invited to visit the Kronplatz ski resort in South Tyrol.
We would like to sincerely thank all participants and of course our partners for making these events such a success. Here are a few impressions:
