Quality snow requires not only efficient equipment, snow guns, machine rooms ... but also very accurate weather forecast locally. The forecasts help the ski area operator to decide when to be ready to make snow: Being able to fire up in 5 or 15 hours on a given sector can make the difference. Particularly early in the season, the ability to know with greater accuracy how short-term weather conditions will evolve is essential for the ski area operator.
Until now, the ski area operator had to rely on regional weather bulletins. But, with these regional forecasts, the precision at the local level, like on a given sector of the ski area may be insufficient for optimum snow production. As many parameters must be integrated to the weather forecasts, especially in the mountain regions, it is logical that only local measurements provide accurate local forecasts.
Indeed, it combines the data measured by weather sensors of the snowmaking system, historical data stored by the control software and combines the data to several global powerful weather models. This combination gives a very accurate local forecast, up to 10 days. To achieve this, TechnoAlpin has partnered with the largest private weather service in Europe, MeteoGroup. Available since the beginning of this year on installations controlled by ATASSplus, it is now also available on installations controlled by the Liberty software! All operators using TechnoAlpin equipment will therefore be able to benefit from this innovation and further improve the performance of their equipment and their snow production for the next winter season! It will make it possible to secure further the snow production early on in the production season and the slope opening date. Indeed, it is a powerful decision-aid tool for the ski area operator even more relevant when we look at the very uncertain weather conditions we experienced at the beginning of winter 2015/2016!
