Le Praz
France
At an altitude of 1,300 m, the Le Praz ski jump in Courchevel is one of the most important ski jumping facilities in France. However, borderline snowmaking temperatures often pose a problem in this region, particularly at the start of the season. Two TT10 fan guns have been installed by TechnoAlpin to overcome this problem. And the new fan guns have fulfilled their mission after just a few months in operation: "In borderline conditions we were able to produce WB from -1.5°C, and in colder periods we got up to 28 m3/h of water," explains Gilles Morat, site manager, who was able to reduce the time needed to prepare the snow for the ski jumps. Another significant advantage: "The TT10s operate much more quietly than other fan-based machines. As the ski jumps are only 200 m away from the first houses, low noise emissions in snow guns are very important for us and the residents.”
The two snow guns are strategically placed between the two areas to be covered with snow to ensure better distribution of the snow. And, Morat continues: "Snow distribution is further enhanced by the horizontal swing function, which can be adjusted to the nearest degree to accurately deposit the freshly generated snow!"
