Calculating the carbon footprint

Measurement is the first step towards targeted improvement. With the 2024/25 Carbon Footprint Report, TechnoAlpin Holding continues the journey it began with its first CO₂ footprint calculation. At the same time, the company is strengthening its commitment to the transparent, structured and responsible management of greenhouse gas emissions.
 

The new report marks a significant milestone: The calculation has been expanded to include the entire TechnoAlpin Holding and now covers TechnoAlpin, EmiControls, ENGO, Lanatec, and xelom. Additional Scope 3 categories have also been incorporated, and the quality of the data collected further improved. As a result, the calculation is now more comprehensive, accurate and reliable.

Key differences between the two reports

During the reporting period from May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, the total carbon footprint was 56,308 metric tons of CO₂e. This represents an increase of 1.95% on the previous year. However, this figure must be considered in the context of the expanded calculation framework: The current report now covers more companies, a broader range of emission categories and the data is of a higher quality.
 

The results therefore indicate not only higher emissions, but also, and most importantly, a significantly more mature and comprehensive measurement framework. The expansion of the accounting framework, the inclusion of additional Scope 3 categories, and the correction of a previous classification of Scope 1 and Scope 2 sources now ensure a more robust and transparent comparison between fiscal years.

Measurable progress: Renewable energy and reduction of Scope 2 emissions

In addition to the expanded analysis, the report also highlights measurable progress. Using the market-based approach, Scope 2 emissions were reduced by 40% through the introduction of renewable energy at selected Italian sites and at the Chinese production facility.
 

This result confirms the effectiveness of the measures aimed at increasing the share of renewable energy in operations. These include, among other initiatives, the transition to green electricity at the company's main Italian sites and the objective of further strengthening the use of energy-efficient solutions in new construction projects.
 

Scope 2 emissions have also reduced under the location-based approach: They fell by 5% to 858 tCO₂e. Scope 1 emissions total 1,907 tCO₂e, while Scope 3 emissions continue to account for the largest proportion of emissions across the value chain, at 53,543 tCO₂e.

Measures already underway

The 2024/25 Carbon Footprint Report shows that TechnoAlpin Holding is working on multiple levels to gradually reduce its climate-related impacts and further improve the efficiency of its operations.
 

The key measures already initiated include:

  • the gradual introduction of a green energy mix, starting at headquarters;
  • the gradual increase in the proportion of electric vehicles in the company's fleet;
  • Measures to promote sustainable employee mobility;
  • the increased use of bio-HVO in transport;
  • optimizing logistics through direct deliveries, in-store pickups, and reusable packaging;
  • the gradual modernization of existing buildings, including through LED lighting and photovoltaic systems
  • the prioritization of energy-efficient solutions in new construction;
  • Internal awareness-raising initiatives on climate change and reducing the carbon footprint.

The 2024/25 Carbon Footprint Report helps identify priority areas for action, assess the effectiveness of measures already implemented, and establish a solid foundation for future monitoring of emissions trends.
 

This approach applies across the entire Group and creates links between measures in the areas of energy, buildings, mobility, logistics, product innovation, the circular economy and the value chain. In this way, TechnoAlpin Holding is strengthening its contribution to the transition to a low-emission economy and continues to develop efficient and responsible solutions for customers and stakeholders.
