Meticulous attention to detail leads to sheer sophistication and greater efficiency
TechnoAlpin has always invested heavily in research and development to make snow guns that much more efficient and user-friendly. Several crucial steps have been taken in recent years, which underpin TechnoAlpin’s pioneering technological status.
The latest nozzle valve technology is one of those steps. The nozzle blocks on the new valve ring can be controlled individually, unlike the earlier model where certain combinations were pre-set. This always guarantees the ideal combination, thereby enhancing overall snow gun output and ensuring that the system always operates at optimum efficiency.
Moreover, the water in the nozzle valves is no longer drained downwards but is driven forwards into the air jet. Not a single drop of water is wasted using this technique. The heated discharge hose is also spared as a result.
The new TechnoAlpin models now need just one motor for both turbine and compressor. An additional electrical motor is no longer necessary. This reduces servicing requirements and the snow guns are quieter overall.
Air temperature is crucial for high snow output in borderline conditions. The new snow guns are therefore fitted with a heat exchanger with a very high cooling capacity. The compressed air is routed around the cold snowmaking water and is cooled from 100°C to 10°C - without using any additional energy. This also saves on heating in the water filter, which means that approximately 30% less heating power is required.
The correct snowmaking position of the snow guns is vital to ensure optimum performance. The mechanical concept devised for the new snow guns automatically takes them to the correct snowmaking position. At the end of snowmaking, the snow guns automatically adopt a stand-by position to avoid any damage.
TechnoAlpin has also attempted to standardize the new models as much as possible in a bid to optimize resources in both procurement and logistics. 90% of the components used for the TT and TR snow guns are identical.
All components are designed to be as durable and robust as possible. This is also reflected in the nozzles and nucleators, which have a ruby insert. Ruby is much harder than stainless steel and is hardly subject to wear and tear even in contact with hard water. This guarantees consistently high, long-term snow output whilst significantly reducing wear and tear.
Overall, thanks to all of these smart solutions, the new models generate approximately 15% more snow than their predecessors with the same energy input. What’s more, there is less wear and tear on equipment and maintenance is kept to a minimum, thus safeguarding further resources and increasing occupational safety.
