New TechnoAlpin system for the World Cup at Kronplatz
On 24 January, Kronplatz will once again host the Alpine Ski World Cup. Ladies will compete in the giant slalom covering 1,325 meters, with a maximum gradient of 70%. For the first time ever, all of the snow for this event will be provided by a TechnoAlpin system.
The giant slalom on the challenging Erta slope at Kronplatz has been a major event on the World Cup calendar since 2017. The snowmaking system along the entire slope was completely revamped last summer. TechnoAlpin was awarded the coveted contract. “We have been working with TechnoAlpin for almost 20 years in the pumping station sector and have always been extremely satisfied customers. However, problems can sometimes arise when the entire system is not single sourced. We wanted to change that this year. After an intensive testing phase, we finally decided to switch entirely to TechnoAlpin,” explained Danny Kastlunger, Technical Director of the St. Vigil Cable Cars and head of the World Cup organizing committee.
Over 70 new snow guns were installed in the summer, around 60 of which are TT10 and TT9 models. With their tiltable towers, they combine the advantages of a tower machine and the straightforward maintenance of a mobile device. “We tested the TT10 for two years and never encountered any problems. The installation with the protective mat on the jacks is aesthetically appealing, and there are numerous advantages in terms of occupational safety when it comes to equipment maintenance,” added Danny Kastlunger.
The key players in St. Vigil are not only convinced by product quality but also by the support TechnoAlpin provides. “TechnoAlpin has been very supportive, right from the outset, and did everything in their power to ensure that the system was installed on time despite the difficult conditions. The system was commissioned in October, and this was also handled with extreme professionalism. Every machine was checked twice to avoid any problems at the start of the season. Maintenance is crucial during the summer months to ensure a seamless start to the winter season,” explained Danny Kastlunger.
The meticulous attention to detail has certainly paid off. And for the first time ever, the St. Vigil slopes opened on 1 December. The new system and the latest ATASSpro software ran like clockwork. “ATASSpro is so smart that there were no problems operating it. The mobile app is also very well designed and is widely used by our team,” reported Danny Kastlunger.
