Skeetawk Ski Area Invests in Its First Snowmaking System with TechnoAlpin

Skeetawk Ski Area, the newest ski resort in Alaska, has entered an important new phase of development with the installation of its first snowmaking system from TechnoAlpin, achieved during summer 2025.
 

Nestled in the Talkeetna Mountains within the iconic Hatcher Pass—just 90 minutes north of Anchorage—Skeetawk is located in an area already renowned for its exceptional backcountry skiing. Operating as a nonprofit, community-based ski area, Skeetawk has welcomed skiers and riders since the 2019/2020 winter season, following the installation of its first lift: a fixed-grip triple chairlift.

Until now, snowmaking infrastructure was the missing piece needed to further secure operations, enhance snow reliability, and consistently deliver high-quality conditions for winter sports enthusiasts. This first snowmaking installation marks a major milestone for the resort’s long-term sustainability and guest experience.

The initial construction phase includes the installation of 3,000 meters of snowmaking pipelines, 11 concrete snow pits, and 18 manual water hydrants across the slopes. Water supply will be ensured by a containerized pump station equipped with two pumps. Housed within a 40-foot container, this solution enables fast deployment and simplifies installation, making it particularly well suited to Skeetawk’s environment.
 

Snow production on the slopes will be handled by 11 TT10 fan guns and 9 TR9 mobile guns, all operated via TechnoAlpin’s ATASSpro control software, ensuring efficient and reliable system management.
