Prêts pour l’hiver dans l’hémisphère sud

Alors que l'été commence dans l'hémisphère nord, la saison hivernale démarre dans l'hémisphère sud. Pour les domaines skiables, chaque période de température favorable compte désormais afin d'offrir aux clients de bonnes conditions de glisse dès le lancement de la saison.

Un exemple australien est la station de ski Selwyn. Une solution d'enneigement moderne a été mise en œuvre dans le cadre de la reconstruction en collaboration avec TechnoAlpin. ATASSpro, le système de commande entièrement automatique de TechnoAlpin, joue ici un rôle central. Il permet des temps de réaction rapides, un accès à distance et des ajustements continus en fonction des conditions changeantes.

Par rapport au système précédent, Selwyn peut désormais produire de la neige à des températures pouvant atteindre jusqu'à deux degrés de plus, ce qui constitue un avantage décisif pour un démarrage de saison fiable.

Nic Wilke, Mountain Operations Manager à Selwyn, résume l'avantage :

« Si le système peut être lancé en quelques minutes au lieu de plusieurs heures, il peut profiter des courtes périodes de froid qui seraient autrement perdues ».

En Nouvelle-Zélande aussi, les préparatifs pour l'hiver sont en cours : à Coronet Peak, la Snow Factory reprend du service pour le début de la saison. Ce nouveau projet montre également l'importance d'une production de neige fiable afin de créer suffisamment tôt de bonnes conditions pour l'exploitation hivernale.
